Victoria School Singapore Visiting Bumi Cendekia

On Tuesday, June 2, Bumi Cendekia had the pleasure of welcoming a special delegation from Victoria School Singapore. Beginning at 8:00 a.m., teachers and student council members of Bumi Cendekia Junior High School warmly received and accompanied the visiting students throughout the day’s program.

The visit commenced with an opening session and orientation held at the North Building of Bumi Cendekia Boarding School. Following the briefing, the Victoria School students participated in a Dormitory & School Tour to gain a closer understanding of the school environment and boarding school life. As part of the experience, they walked approximately 300 meters from the North Building to the South Building, allowing them to experience the daily routine of Bumi Cendekia students asthey they have to walk from the dormitories to school.

The next activity was led by Ms. Pradytias Salza, Physical Education teacher at Bumi Cendekia Junior High School, who introduced the visitors to one of Indonesia’s traditional games, Gobag Sodor. The Victoria School students played directly against several Bumi Cendekia students. Initially, the visiting team struggled as they were still learning the rules of the game and were defeated in the first rounds. However, after gaining a better understanding of the gameplay, they successfully turned the tables and secured a victory. Despite the competitive spirit, the activity was never about winning or losing; rather, it served as a meaningful opportunity to strengthen friendships and foster connections between students from both schools.

After a short break and the opportunity to sample a variety of local snacks, the Victoria School students joined classroom activities alongside Bumi Cendekia students. Guided by the teachers, they spent approximately 45 minutes learning, playing, and interacting together. The classroom atmosphere was warm and engaging, providing students with the opportunity to share experiences and get to know one another better.

The program continued in the ICT Laboratory with a cultural exchange and mentoring session facilitated by Ms. Muhaimi Mughni Prayogo (Ami), the school counselor of Bumi Cendekia Junior High School. During this session, the Victoria School students introduced the history of their school and shared various positive values and traditions practiced within their school community. Afterwards, Ms. Ami guided participants through a group self-reflection activity using specially prepared worksheets. The session concluded with group presentations, followed by an introduction to the positive cultures and values that have become an integral part of life at Bumi Cendekia.

One of the most memorable moments of the visit came when a Victoria School student named Hugo shared his impressions of Bumi Cendekia. He expressed how impressed he was by the school’s furniture design and the unique character of its learning environment. In fact, one of the accompanying teachers was curious enough to ask, “Is this school still under construction, or is this intentionally part of the design concept?”

The question was answered by a representative of Bumi Cendekia, who explained that the campus had indeed been intentionally designed in that way. Responding to the explanation, Mr. Leo, one of the teachers from Victoria School, remarked that the school felt closely connected to nature.

This simple yet meaningful observation provided a warm conclusion to the visit, highlighting how every school has its own unique approach to creating a learning environment that inspires and nurtures its students.
